Career Technical Education
Career Technical Education (CTE) provides students with the academic and technical skills and experiential learning in a student’s area of career interest to support their future success in the workforce. CTE programs follow a multiyear sequence of courses, are organized into 15 industry sectors and follow curriculum standards defined by the California Department of Education.
San José Unified partners with Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE) to provide a wide range of CTE opportunities. Students in grades 11 and 12 at all of our high schools can explore and develop technical skills in courses across 12 industry sectors through SVCTE. Students are concurrently enrolled at their home high school while taking CTE courses and will earn high school and college credit. Some of the courses meet the UC/CSU A-G requirements.
Space is limited and students are encouraged to visit SVCTE’s website and contact their home high school counselor to discuss enrollment options.
